Golden Brown was released in 1982 by the Stranglers and was the second single from their sixth studio album La folie. It made it to No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart, the band's highest ever placing in that chart.
This track has always remained one of my all time favourites and I especially like it's distinctive use of harpsichords and 6/8 time signature.
Whenever I hear it I'm reminded of days spent on holiday at my Aunty and Uncles house during my childhood . I recall tea and toast some evenings in their games room. The coal fire would be crackling away whilst I messed about on the snooker table and my two Uncles sat jamming away on their guitars.
I remember the amazing aroma of cakes and biscuits being baked by my Aunty for afternoon Tea every Sunday and I recall those early morning walks in the countryside with my cousin, his Lurcher and the family Springer Spaniel.
Great memories triggered by a great song!
